The Dinanga church is thriving, with many young people and some new members, despite the movement of some members after each school or academic year. There is also the absence of others due to old age, fatigue, and socio-economic difficulties. Church attendance has been at 95 since the beginning of this year, excluding occasions such as baptisms, Christmas, and Easter. Specific activities to report are:
- Organization of prayer days on the last three days of each month. Presbyterian pastors, fellow pastors, and collaborators from revival churches are invited.
- From July 12th to 19th, we are organizing the second edition of the activity called: Evangelical Action for the Restoration of Souls, based on the theme of 1 Chronicles 4:10 “If you bless me and enlarge my territory and keep me from harm…”
- We invite various groups of people from different Christian and non-Christian churches, as well as choirs. For eight days, eight guest pastors will take turns preaching the Word of God. Offerings and fundraising help us support certain projects. This time, everything will be geared towards expanding our church building.
We are currently working with local resources (member contributions) on actions to transform the parish, such as:
- Raising the pulpit platform
- Plastering the entire area above the pulpit.
- Install a new pulpit for the church, after the pulpit area work is completed
- We plan to build an office annex and extend the church by 4 meters at the main entrance and by 2 meters on the right.
The long-term objectives of the church’s transformation are:
- Increased visibility of the church within the community, as a more attractive church draws more people
- Increase in the number of parishioners
- Transformation of the church into a true place of prayer and worship
- Reduce overcrowding in the church, allowing the elderly and those suffering from heart problems and high blood pressure to pray regularly without interruption
- Have an office annex to provide the pastor with a suitable working environment, allowing him to receive members and store documents and valuable church property
The Chinese have begun clearing the ravine around our parish before filling it in and starting the construction of drainage ditches. This is a great joy for the community. We are overjoyed about the ravine repair. We hope to recover the entire portion of the church property that was lost.
