The First Presbyterian Church Newark campus covers almost 14 acres. Anywhere from 5 to 8 acres of this property could potentially be used for a housing ministry, affordable housing, or other projects. Alternatively, the property could be left untouched as it has been.
Over the years, we have been approached with proposals from different third parties seeking to purchase or for us to donate some of our land for their use. These proposals were addressed by either Session or the Board of Trustees. At no time, however, was the congregation asked if there was any interest in pursuing uses for our land versus leaving it untouched.
This survey is to ascertain the majority will of the congregation regarding potential future use of some of our land. There are no active proposals before the church at this time. Session simply wants to know how the congregation feels about the issue of potential land use in case proposals may come to the church.
The following survey below asks a simple question: would you (1) be receptive to selling, leasing, or donating some of our land or (2) prefer to leave our land untouched for the present? Please enter your response(s) and click on the "Submit" button to send your survey result to the church.
PLEASE--only one response per church member!
