Dan McKenty grew up near Philadelphia in the small town of West Chester, PA. He attended Wilmington Friends High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. After working his way through law school by doing a number of different jobs, Dan earned his Juris Doctor degree from Widener University Law School and practiced law in Delaware for 28 years as a defense litigator and trial lawyer.

Following God’s calling to the ministry, Dan attended Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. Dan’s pastoral education and chaplaincy was done at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE.

Previously, Dan was the solo pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Ocean City, MD. He has served as senior pastor at First Pres since early 2024. Dan is a member of the New Castle Presbytery’s Committee on Ministries and Congregations.

Dan is married to his wife Tina and has a grown son, Andrew, and a grown stepdaughter, Stephanie. The family is made complete with two precocious dogs named Luke and Chloe. Tina is a graduate of Padua Academy in Wilmington, DE. Together, Dan and Tina enjoy hiking, biking, gardening, reading, and serving the wishes of Luke and Chloe.
